Dr. Samson Chan
Introduction:
Dr Chan was born in China; one of the greatest, most civilized ancient nations of the world, which embraces traditional values. These values are honesty, kindness, loyalty, righteousness, sincerity, unselfishness and respect to others. These values were nurtured within him as he was growing up and are complimentary to the high moral standards which he upholds.
Dr. Chan moved to Hong Kong after his first birthday. He attended 'Pui Ching" Middle School during primary school to Year Eight. Pui Ching emphasizes values of righteousness and kindness and is renowned for shaping dedicated, hard working students who have subsequently gone on to be the most creative and prominent leaders of the world.
Later Dr. Chan set off to Vancouver, Canada, where he attended Vancouver College a Catholic High School built by the early settlers. During his time at Vancouver College, Dr. Chan developed strong qualities of perseverance and endurance.
In 1978, Dr Chan arrived in Australia with his family and he attended James Cook Boys High at Kogarah for years 10, 11 and 12. After which he sat for the High School Certificate examination attaining a remarkable 98% score which made him part of the top 2% of NSW. He then gained entry to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney. Dr Chan obtained a Bachelor of Dentistry in 1987. Shortly after gaining his qualification as a dental surgeon, he established the Gentle Dentist Surgery in Campsie. As Principal founder and proprietor of the Gentle Dentist, Dr Chan incorporates his enthusiasm and passion into his work. Dr Chan continues to advance his skills and education through attending numerous conferences, seminars and updated courses. Dr Chan specializes in all areas of dentistry especially cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry and oral surgery treatment.
One of Dr. Chan’s greatest abilities is his precision of hand-skills on dental procedures. Dr. Chan has impeccable dexterity, attention to detail and is capable of performing the most difficult, intricate and complex dental procedures.
Statistics:
The Gentle Dentist has had its doors open to serve the general public since 1987. To this date, the surgery has 40,000 patients.
Education:
Dr Chan believes the only way to be a successful dentist is through continuous education to keep abreast with the latest methods of practice and technology. Dr Chan was previously taught by the following outstanding professors and doctors: Professor William J Clark, Professor William R Proffit, Dr Robert M Ricketts, Dr John. W Witzig, Dr Terrance J. Spahl, Dr Wick Alexander. Dr Chan is regarded as one of the most diligent, meticulous and contemporary dentist. Dr Chan's main philosophy of quality dental treatment is the focus on "patient-centred care", where all treatments are carried out at the highest standard which is the best treatment for the patient's condition. Dr Chan also believes that team work is the most effective way to achieve goals and conquer hurdles. He encourages staff members to do further study and he has been a real life teacher and mentor for many dentists. Furthermore, Dr Chan has excellent patient management and communication skills. He believes verbal and non-verbal communications are both important in conveying a message. Dr Chan is also a good listener, which has enabled him to become friends with many patients. The many loyal patients who have been coming to see Dr Chan for several years are testimony to his work.
